![]() ![]() Secondly, Reef starts to realize this when Leeza starts to talk about her life, and how her sister died of cancer. This is shown towards the end of the novel, when he is giving his life’s story to some kids at a school, and telling them what he did and how bad it affected him. So after going to the rehab centre for a few weeks Reef starts to change, he’s not the whatever\who cares person anymore, he is the caring and thinks about what he says person. But as he looks at the older one, he sees him form a word, a swear word that Reef had just spoken. For example, when he was on a bus he was swearing to his friend, when someone asks him to stop, and Reef looks forwards and sees two young boys up front. Reef also starts to think about what he says and how it affects people. Throwing the rock at her windshield and watching her getting smashed by three other cars. ![]() As Reef is helping Leeza heal by taking her outside and playing poker with her, he starts to think about what he did to that poor girl. This is shown in the book when Reef goes to the same rehab centre as Leeza the girl he put there, but he doesn’t realize it’s the same person. In the novel The First Stone by Don Aker a theme is shown, that a person can change, no matter how horrible the thing was, if you can accept it and move on. ![]()
